How our free online hearing test works

Take 1 minute for a clearer perspective

Your hearing profile is as unique as your heartbeat. To help you get a clearer picture of your hearing, our online hearing test is a gentle check-in that guides you through four simple tones for each ear.

1. Listen in:

A soft tone will begin to play. Relax and focus as you find the subtle point where the sound first emerges.

2. Finding your comfort level:

Gently move the slider until the sound becomes clear to you. This helps us understand your unique range.

3. Get your personal result:

Once the tone is audible, save your result of the online hearing screening. We’ll guide you through three tones for each ear and give you your hearing test results once fully completed.

This will be a first step for you or your loved one to better hearing health.

This test is an awareness tool to help you stay proactive. It does not replace a medical diagnosis, so if you have concerns, we encourage you to consult a hearing care professional.

To process your personal data and provide your result, you must give your consent before starting this test. Your privacy is important to us. Please read the full Privacy Consent Statement before providing your consent.

How we hear shapes how we experience the world

Taking a few minutes to check in on your hearing is a quiet, powerful act of self-care—a simple way to stay mindful of how you connect with the world around you.

What happens at your hearing appointment

Here's what to expect once you've completed our hearing test online and decide to follow up with a hearing care professional:

1. Health history

You'll share the hearing changes you've noticed, along with relevant medical history and lifestyle details. This gives the relevant context before any testing begins.

2. Ear inspection

The hearing care professional checks inside your ear canal for earwax buildup or other issues, using a lighted scope, that could affect your results.

3. Tone testing

Headphones on, you listen for tones at different pitches and volumes. The softest sound you can detect at each frequency is plotted on an audiogram.

4. Speech testing

You repeat words played at various volumes. This confirms the tone-test results and shows how well you understand speech, not just isolated sounds.

5. Results review

The hearing care professional walks you through what your results mean and discusses potential hearing health solutions, if any are recommended.

There’s no better time to check your hearing

Small changes in hearing can have a profound impact on how the brain processes the world over time. By checking in early, you stay in control of your health and stay connected to the moments that matter most.

Frequently asked questions

The hearing test online is a reliable first screening tool that can flag possible hearing loss and give you a general sense of where you stand. It isn't a substitute for a full diagnostic exam performed by a licensed professional, who uses calibrated equipment for a more precise, complete result.

You'll need a quiet room, a working pair of headphones rather than speakers, and a device with sound such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone. Headphones matter here, since background noise or low-quality speakers can distort the tones and affect the accuracy of your free online hearing test results.

Once you complete the hearing test online, you'll receive an immediate summary of your results. If they suggest possible hearing loss, our recommendation is to seek advice via an appointment at a hearing care professional for a more thorough, in-person evaluation.

Yes, you can retake the hearing test online as often as you'd like. Hearing can change gradually over time, so it's a good habit to retest periodically, especially if you notice new symptoms, difficulty in conversations, or if it's simply been a while since your last check.

Yes, your hearing test online data is handled securely and confidentially. It's used only to generate your personal results summary.
